To counteract the impending civil war in Jamaica, reggae singer Bob Marley wants to unite people with his music instead of dividing them even further. To this end, he plans a big concert for his fellow citizens to bring them together in a dialog. But a tragedy means that the concert must be canceled, and his home country becomes too unsafe for him, so he sets off for London with his band and family to further his musical career. But at some point, he has to go back and try to end the brutal conflict in his country with his One Love concert.
After „King Richard“, director Reinaldo Marcus Green now portrays another biopic, this time about the musical and political legend Bob Marley. The singer’s story and songs are world-famous, and it was only a matter of time before the singing freedom fighter would make his debut on the big screen. Although this biopic cannot compete with “Bohemian Rhapsody” or “Rocketman” in cinematic terms, it offers all viewers and fans of the late singer a portrayal of his life and work in Jamaica.
