Aladdin is the live action adapation of Disney‘s 1992 animated movie Aladdin featuring Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine) and Will Smith (Genie).

The young thief Aladdin lives in the Arabian city of Agrabah together with his pet monkey Abu. One day he rescues and befriends the Princess Jasmine who has snuck out of the palace to explore the city. Aladdin is caught by the evil Grand vizier Jafar on the attempt to visit Jasmine in her chamber the day after. Jafar who plans to overthrow Jasmine‘s father the Sultan, takes Aladdin to the cave of wonders in order to retrieve a magic lamp that will grant the owner three wishes. Trapped in the cave Aladdin accidentally summons the Genie of the lamp (Will Smith) and the magical adventure begins.

Aladdin offers everything that one could expect from a Disney movie: great songs, stunning visual effects and a moving story. Also – despite of all criticism – Will Smith performs a convincing and funny Genie that is one of the key reasons for the success of the movie.
