Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker is fully focused on his role as New York’s friendly neighbourhood spider. Due to his complete isolation from his social circle and the physical strain of fighting crime, his body begins to undergo alarming changes. This awakens new powers within him, that he has yet to learn to control. However, someone is up to no good in New York. Someone who appears to be able to take possession of people, endangering the city and even Peter’s former friends.

It’s refreshing to see Spider-Man back in his original role as a big-city hero. The everyday challenges adult Peter faces – which he tries to overcome single-handedly – also show just how important it is to rely on others from time to time.
Furthermore, the film’s villain finally feels like a genuine threat again, whilst still revealing enough of their humanity throughout the film to allow the audience to empathise with their motives. (CJ)
