After years in development limbo, producers Seth MacFarlane and The Lonely Island teamed up to continue the Naked Gun series. Replacing Leslie Nielsen’s deadpan comedic deliveries is Liam Neeson, normally better known for his dramatic and action roles. Featuring humor similar to the original films while also incorporating some of MacFarlane’s and The Lonely Island’s own comedic styles, the legacy sequel was well received while grossing solid box office returns, potentially signaling a much-needed revival for theatrical comedy in an era when the genre has struggled to find its footing in cinemas.
