On the remote island of Inisherin, off the coast of Ireland, Pádraic is devastated when his buddy Colm suddenly and without reason ends their lifelong friendship. With the help of his sister and a young islander, Pádraic sets out to repair the broken relationship by any means necessary. But Colm’s determination only grows, and he soon gives his former friend an ultimatum that has shocking consequences.

A well told dark comedy that leaves you wanting more, in a time when Ireland was full of despair, not long after the War of Independence and a long period of suffering that brought a post-colonial inferiority complex, a struggle for identity, a repressive church, superstition, isolation, mass emigration, poverty and to top it all off a brutal civil war. This film does a great job of immersing you in the psychology of the time with wonderful cinematography, costumes, music and atmosphere.
