DESCRIPTION:Audio English\, Subtitles German \nJake\, Neytiri\, and the rest of the Sully family are mourning the loss of their eldest son. They’ve finally been accepted into the Water clan\, but aside from the looming threat of the human RDA forces\, another stressor is preventing them from finally settling down. Their adopted son\, Spider\, still needs a rebreather to survive in Pandora’s atmosphere\, and they only have one backup battery. On the way to fix this problem\, an attack by a new\, aggressive Na’vi tribe splits the family up and drags the Sully kids into a life-threatening situation… \nThis third entry in the Avatar series leaves me with divided feelings. Not in the art department though: the CGI is marvelous\, the world design still great and the action sequences breathtaking. No\, my main problem is that you can clearly tell that Fire and Ash and Way of Water were conceived as a single work and later split into two movies. Aside from introducing a new MacGuffin\, this movie feels like Way of Water all over again. It sticks to the same setting\, does similar things with its characters and introduces too little new things to keep you amazed by the world of Pandora. Especially the last part hurts\, as the Ash People\, the new Na´vi faction\, are quite interesting\, but ultimately underdeveloped. You can still have a good time with this movie for the spectacle alone\, but don´t expect the same magic its predecessors managed to elicit. DESCRIPTION:Audio German\, No Subtitles \nÜber das deutsche Kino wird heute zu Recht viel geklagt. Doch es gibt positive Ausnahmen: Mascha Schilinski hat mit „In die Sonne schauen“ einen bemerkenswerten Film geschaffen. Über einen Zeitraum von ca. 100 Jahren hinweg (1910er bis in die Gegenwart) erzählt die Regisseurin die Geschichte von vier Frauen auf einem altmärkischen Bauernhof. Das klingt erst einmal banal\, doch hier steckt thematisch einiges drin: Feminismus\, Depression\, transgenerationale Traumata\, Tod und die Frage nach historischer Authentizität im Kino. \nBesonders beeindruckend ist\, wie Schilinski hierfür eine Bildsprache findet. Visuelle Motive und eine nicht-chronologische Erzählweise setzen Szenen erst später in Kontext oder lassen sie bewusst offen. Geschichte erscheint hier nicht als linear erzählbar\, sondern fragmentarisch – geprägt von fehlenden Quellen und unserer begrenzten Perspektive auf die Vergangenheit. Zusätzlich schafft Schilinski eine eindringliche Atmosphäre\, durch die der Film stellenweise wie ein Spukfilm wirkt. \n„In die Sonne schauen“ ist sicherlich kein leicht verdaulicher\, sondern ein anspruchsvoller Film. Doch wer sich für einen authentischen Blick auf die Vergangenheit interessiert und glaubt\, dass das deutsche Kino mehr zu bieten hat als Klamaukkomödien\, sollte sich diesen Film nicht entgehen lassen. DESCRIPTION:Audio English\, Subtitles German \nFeeling stuck\, left alone and forgotten. Those emotions can be quite relatable for students everywhere. In “Sorry\, Baby”\, we follow Agnes (Eva Victor)\, a literature student\, after a “bad thing” happened to her a few years ago. While the people around her seem to get ahead in life\, like her best friend Lydie who’s pregnant and about to get married\, Agnes lives in rural Maine and struggles to move on. Told in non-linear chapters that jump back and forth in time\, the film slowly pieces together for us who Agnes is and what happened to her. \nThe rest of the film is better kept as a surprise to hit you at your most emotionally open. Come prepared for deep feelings\, but also for genuine entertainment. In their directorial debut\, Eva Victor manages to combine powerful emotion with hilarious\, relatable humor. Only few films (Eight Grade\, Jojo Rabbit\, The Perks of Being a Wallflower\, …) manage this balance so successfully. “Sorry\, Baby” has been nominated for its direction and writing at numerous festivals and awards\, including Sundance and Cannes\, and Eva Victor’s performance earned a Golden Globe nomination.
