SUMMARY:The Apprentice (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:Visit us on the sad 5-year anniversary of January 6 when we delve into the early story of the central figure behind it all: Donald Trump.\n“The Apprentice” is a biographical drama directed by Ali Abbasi that shows Trump’s (Sebastian Stan) rise to power as a real-estate prodigy and media figure\, complete with all the insane schemes and blackmail going on behind it all\, mainly from the early seventies to the late eighties. An especially important focus for the movie therein lies in the relationship between Trump and his mentor Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong)\, a scrupulous lawyer and prosecutor first gaining infamy by being closely associated with Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare. It is shown how Cohn decisively influenced Trumps mannerisms and public appearance\, teaching him his “three rules” one can still observe to this day: 1. Always attack\, 2. Never admit wrongdoing\, and 3. Always claim victory.\nNow if you care to learn more about HIM and what else compelled him to become what he is today in this cinematographic production that the President himself describes as a „defamatory\, politically disgusting hatchet job“\, come and watch it ;). SUMMARY:The Phoenician Scheme (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:Anatole „Zsa-Zsa“ Korda\, a businessman of enormous riches and questionable morals\, has just survived his umpteenth assassination attempt. Inspired by this near-death experience\, he decides to put his affairs in order and bequeaths his empire to his estranged daughter Liesl\, a nun in training. Liesl is not particularly taken with this new turn in her life but nevertheless accompanies her father on a mission to Phoenicia\, where they promptly become the target of scheming tycoons\, foreign terrorists and determined assassins.\n“The Phoenician Scheme” could be described as Wes Anderson’s attempt at a spy movie\, delivered in his usual signature style of symmetrical compositions\, vibrant colors\, and dead-pan delivery of verbal delicacies. But a core difference separates this movie from his recent works: “The Phoenician Scheme” isn’t an ensemble piece. Instead\, Anderson presents the viewer with a character-driven drama that is particularly focused on the delicate relationship between the gruff Zsa-Zsa and his daughter. Seeing the bond between them evolve alongside Zsa-Zsa’s own personality and moral compass gives the movie a distinct purpose and direction that I haven’t witnessed in Anderson’s work since “Isle of Dogs.” A delightful experience for fans of this director and lovers of absurd storytelling alike. SUMMARY:Drachenzähmen leicht gemacht (2025) (DE) feat. Ingenieure ohne Grenzen
DESCRIPTION:Das Wikingerdorf Berk wird seit 300 Jahren von Drachen angegriffen\, die das Dorf verwüsten und Nahrung stehlen. Um in Berk respektiert zu werden\, ist es deshalb wichtig ein guter Drachentöter zu sein. Hicks\, der Sohn des Stammesoberhaupts\, ist jedoch nicht fürs Kämpfen gemacht und versucht vergeblich sich zu beweisen. Selbst als es ihm gelingt einen der gefürchteten Nachtschatten vom Himmel zu schießen\, glaubt ihm niemand. So sucht er den Drachen\, um ihn zu töten und den Beweis für seinen Erfolg zu erbringen. Doch als er den Drachen findet\, kommt alles anders als ursprünglich geplant. \n„Drachenzähmen leicht gemacht“ erzählt einfach nochmal dieselbe Geschichte\, steht dem Animationsfilm aus dem Jahr 2010 aber in nichts nach. Regisseur Dean DeBlois liefert nicht nur ein visuelles Upgrade für den mittlerweile etwas angestaubten Film von 2010\, sondern zaubert seinem Publikum ein konstantes Lächeln ins Gesicht\, während die erneut herausragende Action-Choreografie immer wieder für Gänsehaut sorgt.
