SUMMARY:The Outrun
DESCRIPTION:Fresh out of rehab\, Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns to the Orkney Islands – a place full of childhood memories and breathtaking landscapes. But the beautiful scenery and kind-hearted people are not the only thing that awaits Rona. She also has to face her traumatic past\, deal with her difficult family situation and stay away from alcohol\, the substance which once consumed her life and nearly destroyed it. \nWith “The Outrun“\, German director Nora Fingscheidt (“System Crasher“) once again proves her talent of telling authentic stories and portraying difficult characters. This time she deals with topics such as alcoholism and bipolar disorder\, and has the great luck of having such a fantastic actress as Saoirse Ronan to play the main part. \nAdapted from Amy Liptrots acclaimed memoir\, who also co-wrote the screenplay\, you could say that the film is quite autobiographical and therefore feels highly authentic. \nBut also Fingscheidts sensitive direction and Ronans nuanced acting make this movie a deeply moving\, human and cinematic experience\, especially recommendable for everyone who likes down-to-earth character dramas and great acting. DESCRIPTION:Freier Eintritt! \nRevolution aus Herz und Leber \nNach einer durchzechten Nacht erwacht Professor Ludwig Lauer mit dröhnendem Schädel in einem fremden Bett. Doch sein Problem ist mehr als nur ein gewöhnlicher Kater – er hat am Vorabend sämtliche Erinnerungen an sein Leben versoffen. Auf der Suche nach seiner Vergangenheit stolpert er in ein Geflecht aus Intrigen an der Universität und findet sich unverhofft als Anführer einer Studierendenrevolte wieder. \nErneut wurde von Studierenden unserer TU Ilmenau ein kompletter Spielfilm im Rahmen der zweijährigen Ilmpressions Filmproduktion unter dem Dach der Forschungsgemeinschaft elektronische Medien e.V. (FeM) produziert. Die Premierenvorstellung dieses hochwertig produzierten Films\, bei welchem auch einige der Darsteller\, sowie große Teile der Crew\, anwesend sein werden\, wird am 12. Juli im Audimax stattfinden. Alle Beteiligten hatten dadurch die Möglichkeit sich an einem großen Filmprojekt zu beweisen\, neue Erfahrungen in den verschiedensten Bereichen einer professionellen Filmproduktion zu sammeln oder bereits  vorhandene Kenntnisse zu vertiefen. DESCRIPTION:There’s a house inside a forest and within lives peacefully a single creature: a cat\, content with its hermit life in a world teeming with the vestiges of a human presence. But one day a great flood comes and turns the cat’s life upside down\, causing the animal to seek refuge in a small boat. A boat that is already populated with a variety of other species with which the cat must team up despite their differences. \n“Flow” is an outsider from every angle: an independent production from Latvia\, made by a small team in an open-source software with a budget of less than 4 million dollars. A film that not only renounces any spoken dialogue\, but also barely anthropomorphizes its non-human cast and lets them act like real animals\, including sound design taken from their real-life counterparts. And still\, this film managed to outdo all its high-budget contenders from big studios and won a Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Animated Feature. “Flow” is not just a dreamy adventure story with a cute cat at its center. It’s a visually and musically stunning experience with an immersive world and a profound sense for emotional storytelling\, even without a single word uttered. If last semesters “Robot Dreams” was right up your alley\, you owe it to yourself to experience this journey.
