DESCRIPTION:Die 17-jährige Suzu lebt mit ihrem Vater in einem abgeschiedenen Dorf auf dem Land. Seit dem tragischen Tod ihrer Mutter vor vielen Jahren ist das einst lebensfrohe Mädchen in sich gekehrt und spricht nur noch das Nötigste.\nDoch wenn sie „U“ betritt\, ein virtuelle Social-Media-Welt der Superlative\, wird sie zu Belle\, einer weltweit gefeierten Sängerin. Eines Tages wird eines von Belles Konzerten von einer monströsen Kreatur unterbrochen. Fasziniert von dem sich nicht um die Regeln der Cyberwelt scherenden „Biest“\, macht Suzu sich daran\, mehr über diese geheimnisvolle Gestalt in Erfahrung zu bringen… \nNach „Summer Wars“ ist dieser Film bereits das zweite Mal\, dass Regisseur Mamoru Hosoda sich in die Abgründe einer fiktiven Cyberwelt wagt. Dabei spinnt er eine interessante Parallele auf die heutige Social-Media-Gesellschaft\, die mehr ist als eine reine Neuinterpretation von „Schöne und das Biest“. SUMMARY:The Batman (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:THE BATMAN is the latest movie about the Dark Knight. Robert Pattinson portrays the World’s Greatest Detective and fits surprisingly well into the\, after Joker\, again very dark mood of this iteration of superhero movies by DC. Going back to his roots Batman slips into a more human-like persona and is faced with a serial killer case. He helps the local police by solving riddles with clues left behind at the crime scenes. Assisted by old and new allies\, this eventually leads him closer to his own history than he would have liked initially\, yet he must capture the perpetrator and bring justice to the by corruption overflooded Gotham. \nEspecially the first half of THE BATMAN is really captivating and far from the typical superhero storyline we all have seen a hundred times already. The underlaying tension is always noticeable and makes the movie much less mainstream and more alternative\, but still great. SUMMARY:Red Rocket (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:With Red Rocket\, writer and indie director Sean Baker (The Florida Project\, Tangerine L.A.) explores the world of pimps\, drug dealers and the adult film industry. The result is quirky comedy\, sex film and milieu study all rolled into one. Baker’s film\, which premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival\, has made numerous other festival appearances and has already received much praise as well as numerous nominations. \nThe quirky comedy centers on Mikey Saber (Simon Rex)\, a washed-up porn star who returns to his small Texas hometown after missing job offers and running out of money. His still-wife Lexi (Suzanne Son) is less than thrilled and reluctantly takes him in. To earn money\, Mikey starts selling weed. He meets 17-year-old Strawberry (Bree Elrod)\, an employee of a donut store\, and senses his big chance. He seduces her and wants to use the girl as a ticket back into the porn industry. \nWith films like Tangerine L.A.\, the iPhone-shot story of a transgender sex worker\, and The Florida Project\, a film about an unemployed single mother and her young daughter living in a run-down motel in the shadow of Walt Disney World\, Baker has showcased life on the margins. DESCRIPTION:Die Buchhändlerin und Autorin Julie (Renate Reinsve) ist zwar ganz bestimmt nicht die schlimmste Person der Welt\, aber sie ist launisch und sprunghaft – womit sie ihr Umfeld merklich beeinflusst. Julie ist in einer Beziehung mit dem älteren\, 44-jährigen Comic-Zeichner Aksel (Anders Danielsen Lie). Er möchte gerne eine Familie mit ihr gründen\, für Julie kommt das hingegen nicht in Frage. Auf einer Party lernt sie Eivind (Herbert Nordrum) kennen\, der jung ist und voller Energie. So wie Julie möchte er keine Kinder haben.
