SUMMARY:Der Schneeleopard
DESCRIPTION:Der Naturfotograf Vincent Munier und der Schriftsteller Sylvain Tesson begeben sich in Tibet auf die Suche nach einem ganz besonderen und sehr seltenen Tier: dem Schneeleoparden. Im zentralasiatischen Hochgebirge lebend\, ist nicht nur die Reise für die Forscher eine Herausforderung\, sondern auch die geringe Anzahl und Scheu der Großkatzen. Auf ständiger Spurensuche und mit dem Finger auf dem Kameraauslöser entstehen wundervolle und beeindruckende Bilder\, die den Zuschauer in eine andere Welt entführen. Dabei liegt der Fokus nicht einzig und allein auf dem Schneeleoparden selbst\, sondern auf dem ganzen Lebensraum Himalaya\, von den Tieren über die Pflanzen bis hin zu den Menschen – und gibt vielleicht einen Grund mehr\, sich um die Erhaltung dessen zu bemühen. \nDas ganze Erlebnis wurde anschließend auch in einen Roman und ein Fotobuch verarbeitet. SUMMARY:The Batman (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:THE BATMAN is the latest movie about the Dark Knight. Robert Pattinson portrays the World’s Greatest Detective and fits surprisingly well into the\, after Joker\, again very dark mood of this iteration of superhero movies by DC. Going back to his roots Batman slips into a more human-like persona and is faced with a serial killer case. He helps the local police by solving riddles with clues left behind at the crime scenes. Assisted by old and new allies\, this eventually leads him closer to his own history than he would have liked initially\, yet he must capture the perpetrator and bring justice to the by corruption overflooded Gotham. \nEspecially the first half of THE BATMAN is really captivating and far from the typical superhero storyline we all have seen a hundred times already. The underlaying tension is always noticeable and makes the movie much less mainstream and more alternative\, but still great. Fasziniert von dem sich nicht um die Regeln der Cyberwelt scherenden „Biest“\, macht Suzu sich daran\, mehr über diese geheimnisvolle Gestalt in Erfahrung zu bringen… \nNach „Summer Wars“ ist dieser Film bereits das zweite Mal\, dass Regisseur Mamoru Hosoda sich in die Abgründe einer fiktiven Cyberwelt wagt. Dabei spinnt er eine interessante Parallele auf die heutige Social-Media-Gesellschaft\, die mehr ist als eine reine Neuinterpretation von „Schöne und das Biest“. SUMMARY:The Card Counter
DESCRIPTION:Von Paul Schrader und seinen Figuren sind wir schon einiges gewohnt. Der Regisseur von „Taxi Driver“ lässt uns in seinem neuen Film wieder in das Leben eines Gequälten eintauchen. William\, Ex-Soldat\, verbringt jeden Tag gleich. Er geht ins Casino\, spielt Blackjack mit kleinen Einsätzen\, bleibt unauffällig\, zählt Karten und geht mit einem kleinen\, aber sicheren Gewinn nach Hause. Im Casino sagt ihm niemand\, was er tun muss oder fragt ihn nach seiner Vergangenheit. Denn genau mit dieser versucht er umzugehen. Doch auf begabte Spieler wird man aufmerksam\, so auch La Linda\, die William überredet an Pokerturnieren teilzunehmen. So beginnen sie eine Reise durch die Casinos der USA. Auf ihrem Weg treffen sie auf Cirk\, der in gewisser Weise in einer Verbindung zu William steht. Als fast fröhliches\, durch die Gewinne beflügeltes Trio setzen sie ihre Reise durch die Casinos fort. \nDer Film saugt einen trotz seines ruhigen Erzählstils in die Geschichte und vor allem die Vergangenheit von William ein. SUMMARY:Everything Everywhere All At Once (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:Evelyn Wang is a Chinese immigrant living in America. There she runs a small laundromat with her husband Waymond. In addition to her business struggeling at the moment\, Evelyn has to face a multitude of other worries and problems: the salon is being investigated by the IRS\, her husband wants a divorce\, her father\, who has recently arrived from Hong Kong\, has problems with American culture\, the Chinese New Year celebration has to be planned and prepared\, and her daughter wants to introduce her girlfriend Becky to the family. During the visit to the IRS\, Alpha Waymond\, an alternate version of Waymond from another universe\, suddenly takes over the body of Evelyn’s husband. The latter explains to her that she must use the „verse-jumping“ technology developed in\nthe so-called Alphaverse to save the multiverse from the evil Jobu Tupaki by harnessing the abilities of all her versions from other universes. EEAAO tells a story of the problems of everyday life and how people face them. DESCRIPTION:In „Ich bin dein Mensch“ versucht die eigenständige Wissenschaftlerin Alma durch die Teilnahme an einer Studie ihre Forschung im Pergamon-Museum zu finanzieren. Dabei wird ihr für drei Wochen ein perfekt auf sie zugeschnittener und auf ihre Bedürfnisse abgestimmter humanoider Roboter namens Tom als ihr Partner zum Testen zugeteilt\, zu dem sie anschließend ihr Gutachten abgeben soll. Nach einer ersten holprigen Kennenlernphase nimmt Alma Tom mit nach Hause. Dieser räumt allerdings ungefragt ihre Wohnung auf und versucht romantische Momente zu kreieren. Doch das ist gar nicht das\, was Alma sucht und so beginnt eine witzige und zugleich melancholische Geschichte des Zusammenlebens von Mensch und Roboter\, die uns womöglich in naher Zukunft bevorstehen könnte. Es werden Fragen rund um die Liebe\, Sehnsucht und was den Menschen zum Menschen macht aufgeworfen.\nDiese etwas andere Liebesgeschichte erzählt mit viel Humor und Charme vom Leben und allzu Menschlichen. DESCRIPTION:“Last Night in Soho” is the most fun you can have with an Edgar Wright film.\nThe story revolves around Eloise (Thomasin Mckenzie) who is moving from the English countryside to London to study fashion. At night she is mysteriously able to enter the London of the 60’s where she has several encounters with a singer named Sandie (Anya Taylor-Joy). DESCRIPTION:In „The Last Duel“\, Scott tells the events leading up to the historical duel of 26 December 1386 from the three different perspectives of the main characters. Marguerite de Carrouges\, the wife of Jean de Carrouges\, accuses her husband’s friend Jaques Le Gris of raping her. Le Gris denies and is supported by Prince Pierre d’Alençon. So\, Jean de Carrouges approaches the French king to demand a duel to the death between him and Le Gris. For in 14th century France there was a belief that God would help the one who spoke the truth to victory. In doing so\, however\, de Carrouges risks not only his life but also that of his wife\, who could be banished at the stake for making false accusations. \nRidley Scott stages a relevant topic in an unusual way. The more often the plot is told with subtle differences\, the more the story grips you\, although the film does take its time to let all parties have their say. Als ihr Coach und Mentor könnte er Reue zeigen\, sein Image beim Disziplinarausschuss aufpolieren und einer Entlassung entgehen. Zähneknirschend lässt Pohl sich darauf ein. Dort leben sie zuerst in Kalifornien\, wo Mutter und Vater mit dem Sortieren von Küken nach Geschlecht ein mageres Einkommen verdienen. Jacob träumt jedoch von einer eigenen Farm und siedelt deswegen mit seiner Familie schließlich nach Arkansas über\, wo Grundbesitz günstiger ist. Dort lebt die Familie fortan in dem Wohnwagen\, in dem schon der vorherige Besitzer des Landes lebte und an dem Versuch scheiterte\, eine Farm zu gründen. Und auch für Familie Yi ist das leichter gesagt als getan: Monica ist am Ende ihrer Kräfte und Jacob verzweifelt daran\, dass er nicht für seine Familie sorgen kann.
