SUMMARY:The Woman King (OmU)
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSet in 1823\, this movie tells the story of the all-women forces of the West African kingdom of Dahomey known as the Agojie. When faced with a threat by the Oyo Empire\, General Nanisca (Viola Davis) must train a new generation of warriors to protect the kingdom. The newly instituted King Ghezo (John Boyega) must also deal with Portuguese slavers who have joined forces with the Oyo Empire.\n\nThe movie is based on true events and the Agojie serve as the real-life inspiration for the now more famous fictional Dora Milaje\, the all-female kings-guard warriors of “Black Panther” (2018).
